Rack Repair Weekend
This weekend I got back to some brazing by completing two different rack repairs: John's Ebisu low rider rack and Ely's Nitto M-12 rack. John's rack had popped an eyelet during some mixed-terrain touring and he wanted me to replace all the eyelets with tab-style mounts. It was a little weird taking apart the joints of the rack that hadn't failed yet! Ely's rack sheared off its fork-crown mounting bolt, so it needed replacing. This was my first time repairing racks and also working with existing chrome plating, and I'm pretty happy with how both repairs turned out.
